Investment adviser in Fareham
Whether you've built up some savings, received an inheritance or have investments you're not sure about, we help people in and around Fareham invest with a clear plan. We start with your goals, your timescale and how much risk you're comfortable with, and explain everything in plain English.
Who this helps
A lump sum to invest
Perhaps from an inheritance, a work bonus, a property sale or selling a business. You'd like to think it through properly before doing anything.
Existing investments to review
You have ISAs or other investments, possibly in a few different places, and you'd like someone to look at whether they still suit you.
Saving regularly
You're putting money aside each month, for yourself or for your children or grandchildren, and want it to have a purpose.
How we work out what suits you
We don't start with products. We start with you. Before recommending anything, we'd meet and go through your full details, including:
- What you're investing for, such as retirement, helping family or simply growing your savings
- How long you can invest for, because time makes a big difference to what's suitable
- Your attitude to risk: how you'd feel if your investments fell in value
- Your capacity for loss: how much of a fall you could actually afford without it affecting your plans
- Tax wrappers: whether ISAs, pensions or other accounts are the right home for your money
Independent advice: what it means here
We're independent financial advisers. That means we look at a wide range of products from across the market, rather than a limited panel, and our recommendations are based on a fair and unbiased analysis of the market for your needs.
How it works
First meeting
A free, no obligation conversation about what you'd like your money to do. See what to expect at your first meeting.
Your plan
If you'd like to go ahead, we'd meet and go through your full details, research your options and set out our recommendation in writing, including the costs and risks, explained clearly.
Ongoing reviews
If you'd like, we'll review your investments at least once a year to check they still match your goals and attitude to risk. Ongoing reviews are optional. More on your journey with us.
What it costs
Your first meeting is free. If you go ahead, we'll agree the cost with you in writing before any work starts, and you can choose how to pay.
Where we meet
We meet in person across Fareham and nearby areas, at your home or another place that suits you. Remote meetings by phone or video are available if that's easier.
Questions people ask
What does an investment adviser actually do?
We help you decide how to invest in a way that fits your goals, timescale and attitude to risk. That includes choosing the right type of account, researching suitable investments, explaining the costs and risks, handling the paperwork and, if you'd like, reviewing things with you over time.
Is there a minimum amount I need to invest?
It should be an amount you can afford, that doesn't affect your standard of living, and only after you have at least three months of emergency savings in place. Typically we work with people looking to invest £50,000 or more.
What is the difference between an ISA and a general investment account?
An ISA is a tax wrapper: any growth and income inside it is free of UK income tax and capital gains tax. There's a limit on how much you can pay into ISAs each tax year, set by the government (£20,000 for the 2026/27 tax year). A general investment account has no annual limit, but income and gains may be taxable. Many people use both.
Can you review investments I already hold elsewhere?
Yes. We look at what you hold, what it costs, how much risk it carries and whether there are any charges for moving. Sometimes the right answer is to leave things as they are, and we'll tell you if so.
Is it worth paying for investment advice?
It can be, if you want a plan built around your goals, timescale and how you feel about risk, rather than picking investments alone. Advice has a cost, and we'll agree that with you in writing before any work starts. If we don't think advice would be worth it for the amount involved, we'll tell you. See how we charge.
How do you work out my attitude to risk?
We talk through how you'd feel if your investments fell in value, how long you can invest for, and what a fall would mean for your plans. That covers both your attitude to risk and your capacity for loss. We use that, together with your goals, before we recommend anything.
